Measure your sports performance on your mobile

Measure your sports performance on your mobile

Mobile phones have been useful in many walks of life. They can be used to perform many specialised functions such as accessing the Internet and watching videos and mundane functions such as sending SMS. A new service that provides real-time feedback on sports performance of the user is now available. The service named 'SportsDo' makes use of the global GPS satellite system to produce live and precise readings on the speed, distance covered, time, position, calories burned, complete ascent and descent of the user.

The application 'SportsDo' is useful for any kind sporting activity. Whether it is training, competing or simply practicing, 'SportsDo' provides in-depth analysis and detailed information about the users' activities. The programme has been designed for use on the move. 'SportsDo' generates charts and graphs of the activities of the user that are designed to fit the phone's screen. It also produces route tracks of the user's sessions in colour-coded segments signifying the speed achieved. 'SportsDo' also collects a complete log of the sessions of the user. The log can be examined on the mobile or uploaded to the 'SportsDo' portal. The application is compatible with a wide variety of mobile phones functioning on Windows Mobile or Java. It is also compatible with PDAs functioning on Windows Mobile.

The user can opt for visual or voice mode with clear announcements of statistics carried over the phone's speakers or earphones. The user can choose the statistics he wants to listen to and he can do so as often as he wants. The announcements integrate with the phone's music playing function and camera. There is no need to close 'SportsDo' while using other functions. The user can also select a summary of statistics or a format with key statistics. The optional Live of 'SportsDo' carries real-time performance to enable the user to share the developments with others on the Internet. The user can control who can see the performance over Internet through the portal's permission function. It is also possible to watch other 'SportsDo' users in real-time. The Text Buddies feature automatically sends regular text messages with important statistics to nominated friends.

The free community portal on 'SportsDo' allows the user to analyse and share information. Sportslog is the first of its kind that logs the sports activities, handles and combines all the functions of the sports enthusiast who wants to record all the information related to his performance. He can log the detailed, tractable maps of his routes and image maps generated by Google Earth. Pictures captured on the phone are attached to the map at the precise spots where the sportsman took them. The log also compiles the songs he was listening to during that session. The best thing about this application is that it comes free of cost.
